renewed growth from spring blossoms
I Embrace the changes in me
That Mother Earth has helped me to see
Spring Equinox has arrived! This has been an unusually cold winter for many of us, with lots of snow. Spring is a welcome time for warmer days and flowers to be planted. It’s a time to come out of that place of introspection from the deep winter days and to feel the ground beneath your feet. This time of year calls for balance, new beginnings, and fertility. Embracing this energy can empower us as we move through the transition from winter and into transformation as spring renews our deeper energy.
What are some practices that can help you do this?
Spend Time in Nature
Nature is our greatest teacher. Take some time out of your week to go for a walk, a hike, or even just sit in silence. Notice the rebirth happening all around you of the seeds, the budding trees, the flowing water, and the animals. Breathe this life into your lungs, allowing yourself to feel the fragileness and sacredness of creation. If you are called to make an offering or pray to Pachamama you can use tobacco, sage, or palo santo.
Meditate
Dive into that place of deep reflection to see what areas of your life need more balance. What shadow work have you worked on over the winter that needs to be released to the light? What aspects of yourself can be transmuted into beauty? Journaling is a great way to bring more awareness into behaviors, patterns, and thoughts that must be balanced and released. Art is also a wonderful outlet that helps us express emotions ready to be seen. Let this beauty be expressed as creative energy and watch it come to life.
Plant some seeds
What seeds are you planting in your garden? Every spring, the gardener asks this question and plans accordingly. You can ask this question about your spiritual garden as well. Whatever seeds you choose, infuse them with all that good heart energy full of love, forgiveness, compassion, and anything else that screams out to you. Water your garden and be careful to continue tending to it as it blossoms and grows.
Create an Altar
If you already have an alter invite in spring with brighter colors such as yellow, green, lilac, blue, and pink. If you don’t have an altar, it is easy to set one up. Pick a spot in your home or room that feels good. Place any object on it that calls to you, like stones, pictures of a teacher, saints, water, flowers, essential oils, etc. Some useful stones for spring are rose quartz, jade, moonstone, and turquoise. Sage, tobacco, or palo santo can be used as part of a daily ritual to clear any unwanted energy and to call in flow and ease. Liver Cleanse and Detox
This is a perfect time to do an internal cleanse and detox of the Liver and intestines. This will help give you a jumpstart to the spring. It helps clean your body of all the fats and toxins that build up after a long winter. Herbal teas like milk thistle, dandelion, burdock root, turmeric, and peppermint can help move the Liver. If you want to do something a little deeper, seek a local acupuncturist or alternative medicine practitioner who is experienced in this area.
