“Even the technology that promises to unite us, divides us. Each of us is now electronically connected to the globe, and yet we feel utterly alone.” Dan Brown
Living in a technologically advanced world we rarely stop to think about all the magnetic and electro-magnetic fields we’re immersed in constantly. I’m referring to computers, TV’s, microwaves, cell phones, wifi, and more that create electronic pollution. Although these devices have now become a necessity to most of us they are creating disruption in our bodies’ healthy functioning.
Our bodies have this incredible innate ability to heal itself by finding its natural state of balance. This balance is best found while in nature, while resting, connecting with our body, and maintaining a healthy diet. Sad to say, information overload upsets this natural process our body uses and, in fact, it can deplete our precious Qi. What does this mean? The end result can be insomnia, increased stress, anxiousness, fatigue, poor digestion, and so much more. You get the idea and I’m sure have even experienced this at times.
So the pivotal question is:
In a world where we depend on our electronic gadgets, what can we do to help our Qi from becoming depleted?
Try these simple yet effective tips that will help conserve your vital energy or Qi:
1) Take periodic breaks from electronics: your neck and shoulder will also enjoy this
2) Turn your computer off more frequently: your mind and body can refocus during this time
3) Get up and stretch, walk, jump, and shake up and down to let the tension go
4) Take a break from TV and news media. YES you can do it. Take a break of a few days and do something that will help you reconnect to your body like yoga, exercise, walking, or socializing.
5) Avoid sleeping near your cell phone, computer, and other devices so that it doesn’t disrupt your sleep cycles and you can wake up feeling refreshed.
Lastly, come in for an acupuncture treatment. This will help calm your heart and mind so your body can replenish itself. Chinese medicine is a great way to relieve stress, depression, insomnia, and more.
