PARASITES: How they can wreak havoc in your body and what to do.
If you think you could have a parasite infection that means you are experiencing a level of abdominal discomfort, amongst other symptoms, that could be getting you down. If you are looking to start a parasite cleanse you have a couple of options.
Some prefer to get prescription medication from their doctor. The downside to prescription medicication is that it can be harsh on your liver and it might not effectively remove the parasitic infection. Another alternative is to treat your infection naturally with what we call a parastic cleanse. In this case, duration will be longer but have longer lasting results and will also repair/restore gut health.
What is a Parasite?
Parasites are organisms that live on or inside another organism, known as the host, and rely on the host for survival. Parasites can be found in various forms such as protozoa, worms, and insects, and can affect both humans and animals. They can be contracted from infected water or food and are more commonly found in foreign countries.
What are the common symptoms of a parasitic infection? Symptoms can vary, but may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, and weight loss. In some cases, there may be no symptoms at all. In any case, these small microorganisms can wreak havoc in your digestion and deplete essential nutrients that your body needs. Therefore, it is important to eliminate them and restore gut health as soon as possible.
Natural Parasite Cleanse
There are several natural remedies that can help to eliminate parasites from the body. One popular remedy is black walnut, which is known for its antiparasitic properties. The active ingredient in black walnut is juglone, which is toxic to parasites. Other herbs I use a lot in my practice are garlic, mimosa, artemisia, and vidanga which all have antiparasitic properties.
I have found it helpful to also add L-Ornithine and L-Arginine during an herbal parasitic protocol to detox ammonia that is released during the die-off phase and to stimulate regeneration of the liver. Adding a binder like charcoal or bentonite clay is also recommended to support the elimination of the parasites and their toxic overload from the body. It is also important to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle while on a parasite cleanse. This includes eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, avoiding processed foods and sugar, coffee, alcohol, and gluten.
When is the most effective time to take a parasite protocol? I encourage my patients to do a parasite protocol for 6-12 months. The first month will be followed for 16 days, preferably to coincide with the full moon for at least a 5-day period and to be repeated for 7 days the following month starting 3 days before the full moon. In between each cycle, it is beneficial to repair and restore the gut microbiome with specific supplements.
Please note it is always recommended to consult with a qualified practitioner who has experience treating parasites before starting any treatment, especially if you have an underlying health condition.
